Intermediate Level Obedience

Are you unsure about which class to take at the Gas City Dog Club? The following is a comprehensive description of each type of class offered at our club. Ranging from basic obedience to specialized courses like agility or scent work, there's a lot for your dog to learn!

Intermediate Level Obedience

When?

Next Session: January 11, 2025 - February 15, 2025(depending on demand)

Intermediate Level Obedience - Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Description  

Registration Fee - $140.00/6 weeks

This set of classes will focus on increasing precision and performance of basic skills by:

  • Adding distance, duration, difficulty and distractions to basic skills already learned
  • Introducing the use of props in the training process
  • Promoting increased teamwork between dog and handler through focus, attention and body position

Training Prerequisite - Successful completion of a basic obedience course or equivalent skill level

Lessons Covered:

  • Using props - e.g. pivot bowl, platform, foot, nose and chin targets, gates and chutes
  • Precision turns (90, 180, 270 & 360 degree turns in either direction)
  • Special exercises and complex turns
  • Waits and Stays - Increase distance, duration, and difficulty, introduce "out of sight stays"
  • Loose Leash Walking and Heeling - they are not the same!
  • Smooth changes of pace and position

Pre-Registration Not Required

Registration Fee: $10.00/drop-in session or $100 for a12-session punch card

NOTE:  In order to provide the best possible experience for dog and handler, the Gas City Dog Club reserves the right to control the number of dogs present in the training room during the drop-in session.
