Monthly Workshops

Starting in February, 2022, Gas City Dog Club will be hosting a workshop on the first Saturday of the month.  These workshops are designed to introduce you to various types of training and dog sports that are a fun way to increase the team work between you and your canine companion!

Focus Games -Confidence Building for Shy Dogs

Course Description: This workshop is designed for shy dogs who lack confidence.  There will be games to help these gems shine!  Games include but are not limited to:

      “Right & Almost Right Game”    

       “Rummage Game”

      “Find the Cookie Game”

      “Bear Hunt Games”

It is appropriate for dogs of all ages. Registration is limited to 8 dog/handler teams.

What to bring:  Lots of small soft treats, enthusiasm and a desire to have a fun learning experience with your dog.

Therapy Dog Training

Classes Start Saturday January 11, or Sunday, January 12, 2024 (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

Note: These classes will continue weekly until the dog & handler teams have gained the requisite knowledge and skills to apply for a Team Evaluation Assessment

Location:  Gas City Dog Club

Instructor:  Alta Magee (Saturday Sessions), Sterling Hinch (Sunday Sessions)

Course Description: The dog & handler teams will be exposed to equipment, sights, sounds and possible scenarios that might occur while doing a pet visitation during the training sessions.

What to bring:  Lots of small soft treats, enthusiasm and a desire to have a fun learning experience with your dog.

Non-Profit Status

In 2001, the Gas City Dog Club became incorporated as a “Not for Profit” organization under the Alberta Societies Act. This status means that no member of the club may benefit financially due to their club membership. The Gas City Dog Club is not a registered charity. Club members volunteer their time to provide classes, hold fundraisers for local pet organizations (such as the holiday Angel Tree), and host/participate in community events. Members also volunteer to make the Gas City Dog Club a more positive environment for everyone to enjoy.
